Listening to Iris DeMent singing Our Town, because of her voice and the truth of what she is singing about, which is that small towns and communities are dying all over.
I cried a few days ago because I couldn't face moving my stuff out of my house because of termites. I cried out of exhaustion from trying to make it so they wouldn't get termite gas on everything, especially my kid's stuff. I cried at the end of the day.

When I watched a series called Pose. The hospital scenes took me right back to when we were going through the Aids years. It’s the same with It’s a Sin.

My daughter, Lael. She’s fearless and fun. In her eight years, she’s had traumatic events, but still gives hugs.
My job. I want to get it right.
But it was really – it came across sinister. And for me, I really did listen to it. I accepted it. I tried to implement that. The reason why I say it’s the worst advice I ever received was that it was damaging to me because she was totally wrong. ... And so, when somebody who is successful tells you to do something, you try to do it, even when it damages you.
