Both my grandmother and my mother got dementia. My grandmother has passed away. My mother is in a home. Dementia is my biggest fear because it robs you of the very thing that makes life special.

Premature demise.
Years ago, before I had my current manager, I was taken advantage of by people I’d trusted with my finances. That’s made me especially sensitive to the prospect of financial ruin. I’m constantly advising young athletes to be vigilant when it comes to whom you trust with your finances.

Doing the spacewalk to fix a solar panel at the furthest edge of the ISS. You have no idea if you are going to get a chance to do a spacewalk when you go into space. I was fortunate. There’s a real juxtaposition between floating, completely serene and calm, looking down at Earth and the universe, and being aware that you are in this hostile environment.
Shyness. It really held me back when I was younger, and I wish it hadn’t. I do a better job of not being so shy these days.
