Angela Eagle, 51, was born in Bridlington, Yorkshire. She joined the Labour party at 17 and became MP for Wallasey in 1992. After the 1997 general election, Eagle was made parliamentary under-secretary for evironment, transport and the regions. In 2008, she was the first female MP to enter into a civil partnership. She is currently shadow leader of the Commons. Her twin, Maria, is also a Labour MP.
