I hate rich people that feel a need to tell you how hard they had it (“We had the smallest pool on the block”). And I hate poor people that feel a need to puff up their bios so they can better fit in with the rich—you meet a lot of Talented Mr. Ripleys in showbiz.
Narcissism. And people coughing on me in public.
Bullying, whether face to face or online.
Talking in cliches. We have the most economic, resonant and versatile language in the world, yet so many people use it in a dull and boring way.
A full-time driver/butler/chef.
I’m lazy domestically. I don’t do housework. My mother would have called me a slut.
I take my family on holiday. We went to Egypt just after Christmas. Golly, it’s expensive.
An exciting idea. I usually write for an hour or so, and then I go to sleep.
I’m a lucky woman – I was walking in the rain yesterday and was really happy.
