To survive from an impossible condition.
A balmy, moonlit evening in Key West. George and I are enjoying a pasta dinner on the balcony overlooking the ocean. Ella Fitzgerald is singing in the background.
Cuddling in bed on a Sunday morning with the man I love. Also, applause and standing ovations.
I’ve discovered that I have no happiness other than my dogs’. If they’re happy, I’m happy. That sounds like something my mother used to say about her children, which I always thought was slightly manipulative and way overstated. I was wrong.
Anyone brave enough to truly be themselves.
Losing my mind.
Right now: Summer. Dusk. On my couch watching Australian Open tennis with my kids and dog. Doors wide open to a beautiful body of water. The first star of the night just appeared in the sky. Life is magical.
People-pleasing.
