View profile →For power to stay in power, the powerful have to impose some level of fear over the people that they are in power over. If you have power, you make decisions and if you make decisions you can probably keep power.
You see, soccer didn't make me who I was. I brought who I was to soccer, and I get to bring who I am wherever I go. And guess what? So do you.
I don’t care who you are on the planet. You need other people to be able to help get you where you want to go, and help get you to learn the things that you want to learn, and participate in the things you want to participate in.
Parenting is the wildest adventure and vocation that can happen to a person. Every day is different and there is no static. So, you have to kind of surrender to the process, which is a hard thing to do for somebody like me who prefers to have order in my life.
I do know that women are going to fight for equal rights, equal pay, equal treatment, equal respect…At the end of the day that is what all the women on the women’s national team deserve and we need to keep moving in that direction as a country in all the industries and obviously as a world.
Too often women are told not to be ambitious. Girls are told not to be ambitious, to just fit in, don’t rock the boat, be happy and grateful for what you already have. And it’s like—no, the only way things change is if we start demanding what we deserve.
