Probably when I didn’t sleep for a week on drugs in 2009. I’d had a lot of meth and my heart felt like it was giving out. I remember climbing over balconies really high up, and I thought I was going to die, until I eventually fell asleep in someone’s garden.

As a young man I had a car accident on a foggy night that left the vehicle looking like a squashed box, even though, by some miracle, I walked away unscathed.
When I was five and the doctors walked in and said to my mum: “I am not sure if you will be taking him home.”
In a helicopter crash in Wyoming in 2005. My cameraman broke his back and both legs; the pilot broke his back. The helicopter didn’t catch fire, so I’m still here today.
When I was drinking, there were many times when I was out for the night and didn’t come back for a week.
The last time I held my children and every time before that. They’ve been my salvation.
