Daniel Clowes, 51, was born in Chicago. His first comic-book series, Lloyd Llewellyn, was published in 1986. Three years later, he created the award-winning comic-book Eightball. His graphic novels include Wilson, David Boring and Ghost World, which was made into a film in 2001 and earned him an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay. He is also a cover artist for the New Yorker, and in 2007 appeared as a character in The Simpsons. He is married with a son, and lives in Oakland, California.
