A temp job at BT. I still have nightmares about ADSL lines. I still don’t know what one is. I would find myself on national conference calls being questioned about ADSL lines and told that the problem was in London. I would try not to breathe so they would forget I was there.
Father Christmas at a department store. The plaintive sadness of the children’s unrealistic requests was almost unbearable.
Working in a warehouse, packing frozen meat. It was a nightmare: I hate the cold and it was very tough.
After Emmerdale, babysitting. I freaked out – I couldn’t believe people put me in charge of their children.
On a school trip to Wales when I was 12. My canoe capsized and got stuck upside down next to a rock. I was underwater for about 30 seconds but it felt a lot longer.
Holidays. For years, I would book a big house in Britain for a week for the entire family. There would be 14 of us. I don’t regret a penny.

My parents. They have been the best example of a loving and respectful marriage over 60 years.
Not being able to keep up piano lessons. I did a year and I was really good and loved it and then my parents couldn’t afford for me to continue.
