I would have been a better listener. I would have pursued more friendships instead of focusing so much on work and myself. I’m doing all that now, but I’m running out of time.
I would go back to when I was 14 and keep to my own style of playing snooker. I was perfect, but I didn’t think I was, so I started playing like everybody else and created bad habits. With a little more time, I could have been the ultimate player. I look at my career and I probably got 75% out of it instead of 100%.
I read too much science fiction to mess with anything. I’d be terrified that, by changing something, my kids wouldn’t be mine.
I was probably too cheeky to chairmen over the years.
Nothing is the same as the sense of pride and achievement I feel when I see my kids growing up and enjoying the simple pleasures in life.
I only really care about my own opinion of myself, and my family and friends’ opinion of me. The rest is just noise.
I just wanted to fulfil my potential.
I sleep very well. Nothing keeps you awake when you know within yourself how much you care, how much you give, and that you always try your best. And that’s true for me, whether it’s on the pitch, on the international stage leading the line for my country, or at home.
