My parents died within four days of each other. I was engulfed as I ran from one bedside to another.
Anna dared me to jump off a cliff in Menorca on holiday a couple of years ago. I did. I fell 30m through the air, hit the water at an odd angle and shattered my coccyx.
I was caught by a wave while swimming at night with friends in Southampton. That shook me.
The London terror attack on 7/7 in 2005. I was in London the day before for the Olympic bid. When we won I thought, “I should stay over – it will be a great party tonight.” But I decided to go back to Manchester for training. Bombs went off on what would have been my route to the station.
I cleaned for a very posh lady in Knightsbridge who made me handwash her knickers. I’d advertised myself in The Lady as a dog walker, so I’m not sure how I ended up there.
An old camper van that has cost me more in repairs than my house, my wedding and all the holidays I’ve ever been on.
To all those whose fleeting interaction with me has fallen short of what they’d hoped; the unwitting recipients of my occasional grumpiness.
That the last general election didn’t take place later. We might have got rid of the Tories with a couple more weeks.
Every time I got drunk and out of order. Especially in my teens and 20s.
Worrying that I’ve upset people.
